Public or private. What do I share with different audiences?

Room 12 students took part in a fun activity where they learned about how to share information safely online. We sorted personal information into public or private categories to help us understand what kind of inform

ation is okay to share on the internet and what should be kept private. This activity helped us make smart decisions about sharing information online and build a positive digital presence.

Having our own student blogs will be an exciting opportunity to share our creativity and ideas with others. We learned to think carefully about who their audience is and what information is appropriate to share online.

We hope you are as excited as we are to visit our blogs soon!

Kawa of Care. How I care for my learning tools and spaces.

Nau mai haere to our class blog for 2023. It’s great to be back!

We are excited to share that we have started our learning journey this year with the Manaiakalani Programme. This means every week on a Tuesday we get to learn about cybersmart with Mr Pese and Mrs Tele’a.

In this particular session we looked at how good we are at taking charge and taking care of items in our care. Mrs Tele’a took us through a range of slides showing items such as ice cream, cash, expensive shoes and more. In a special box Mrs Tele’a brought out items from her home.
An ei katu or pale (head garland), lei/ula (necklace), prayer bead necklace, $2 shop bracelet and more. We reflected that some items were not expensive money wise.  Rather they were very valuable as they had been gifted, handed down or were a connection to a loved one. We looked at items like batteries and torches that at times seem disposable.   Yet when we prepared for the recent floods their value soared and we all made sure to store them in a good place for access and use. Storage is important!

We connected this korero to how we take charge and care of our Chromebooks for learning. How this device is valuable in it’s function of connecting us to more learning, creating and sharing. It is not easily replaced and how we need to take care of it as if it’s the only one and something that we do use daily.

Well done Room 12 on sharing so many good ideas of how you would take care of Mrs Tele’a’s items through to your chromebook.

Mrs Tele’a is looking forward to working with you this year.
