Experience of a lifetime!

Today, Tuesday 12 September 2023, We went to the All Blacks. First we entered and on the ground it had some cool designs, Pink and purple Goo. It was shiny and in the design I saw a skull that had candy eyes. It was a cool art.

We went on an escalator to the 2nd floor and went in a medium sized room and room 11, 13 and 14 were there. We all had wristbands and we had blue ones. We went into a dark room, there was a 1969 TV and a giant screen behind it. First, The lady chose the person to volunteer and it was Rose.T, She was taught how to work an old TV, It wasn’t the same as our type. Then we watched a video on the giant screen. It showed little kids and more children that played rugby.

Second, We went inside a room with screens that are used for playing on I think. There were teams 1 and 2, I was in team 2. Me and Mr. Pese teamed up on the same touch pad. It was like a memory game. All you have to do is memorise the instructions. Our team won all the rounds which was expecting.

We then went inside a room that had rectangles like space boxes. Everyone went inside and I was too scared because I didn’t want to gain claustrophobia. We watched a video of all the black team players, Then the lights shut on and turned back off. Weird music was playing and I was terrified. It was uneasy for me but funny for the others. It was a man speaking.

Then we went inside a room and it had a giant screen. And the black rugby players were there and did the haka. It was quite loud and I was annoyed. It was time to eat so we went back inside the room where everyone met and we ate. It was a fine lunch.

Finishing the Race :,)

Cross country, out of breath. That was so much running! I ran 2.2km and competed against other year 6 girls from other schools. That was more running than I ever done in my lifetime!

For each year level there were about 40 students across from 12 schools competing in the Manurewa zone. I was nervous walking to the starting line but was happy I had Aubree and Nebraska with me from school. Once we started running I felt good. Near the finish line I got really upset because my heel was really sore, never felt this pain before. I walked off but Mr Pese told me to finish the race, and so I wiped my tears and ran back on the track to finish it off.

I felt relieved and great after my race. My heel is sore but I was happy that I finished the race. I think I have done enough running for the year, Thank you for reading 🙂

FIFA fun!

This week I was selected to go to the FIFA fun festival in the city. It was a lot of fun and it was like a room full of bright colours, soccer activities and even a PS4 station! That was one of my favourite stations where we played FIFA against each other.

One of my highlights was playing soccer, heres a picture of me wearing a yellow bib doing rock paper scissors on who’s going to start the ball first. We started with the ball but lost the game, it was 1-0 to the blue team. They got lucky.

Thank you to the FIFA fan festival for inviting our school to this fun day of celebrating the womens FIFA World cup. Go the Football ferns!

Netball fun!

Netball sessions are on the way! This term we have Manurewa netball running some netball sessions with our seniors. This was our second session and today we learnt about passing while running. We did a drill to practice stepping and it was like we played red light, green light. Balancing on one foot is hard so we kept practicing that and got better as the session went on. We finished with a game of passing down your line as quick as possible and our team won. I enjoy netball, so these netball sessions is what I look forward to every week.

Ending the Term with a trip to Stardome

This week is the last week of school and we went on a trip to Stardome. This was so much fun as this was what we have been learning about all term. Our Place in Space. We arrived at Stardome and got to explore their classroom. The teacher taught us about planets and stars. A new thing I learnt was that the first four planets are solid planets and the planets after mars are called gas planets. There were many new things to see at Stardome as they upgraded the whole place. So if you’re thinking of going there, you will not be disappointed, you will learn more about our planet and explore things beyond our world.

All hail, Royal disco has arrived.

Yesterday we had our royal disco fundraiser. This fundraiser was for our year 5/6 syndicate so that we have enough money for our trips. At our disco the theme was Royal and it was inspired by Kings birthday weekend. We all dressed up as Kings, Queens prince and princesses with our crowns. This was a lot of fun as we danced, ate food and danced some more. My favourite part of the disco was seeing all my friends in their crowns. I am wearing a blue dress and a white crown. Thank you for reading.

Raise the Flag for Samoan Language week

Today was the flag ceremony for Samoan language week. It was a cold and rainy morning so Fotu did their ceremony in the hall instead of the netball courts.  The assembly started off with a song called Fa’afetai I Le Atua. After the song the hosts said a prayer. The ceremony felt like a church service. They also read a Bible verse from the book of Salamo (Psalms).

Mr Leaupepe and Ms Johnston said a few words, which was really nice and then the hosts ended the ceremony with a Prayer. My favourite part of the ceremony was when they read the bible verse because I enjoy reading the bible and it helps me to be at peace. In this photo below is my friend Selena who is taking a selfie in front of the Samoan Flag.

Rippa of a day!

On Wednesday we went to a rippa tournament. When we got there we were practicing our passes and ripping off tags then we got ready for our first game. It was a tough first game but we managed to win our first game. I was really happy but nervous to start with.

Throughout the day we played 5 games and we draw one game and won 4. We made semi finals, yay! We won our semi finals where we played Homai in the final. By this time I was tired but we overcame and tried our best and won our final. I was really happy and our coach Karl was smiling! Our A team went finals also but they lost to Manurewa West, they were a good school.

Here is a photo of me and Payton holding our first place trophy, its so small. And this is a group photo of me and my class who played rippa. I had so much fun and looking forward to the next tournament. Go Roscommon!

Pinky promise you’ll be an Upstander.

“Don’t be a Bystander, be an Upstander” was the theme for Pink shirt day. All of Roscommon school was pinked out on this Friday to raise awareness around antibullying. Room 12 got to do their part by wearing pink but also learning to give a compliment to someone. They learnt that kind words can go a long way to brighten someone’s day and to speak up, reach out whenever they feel like they are getting bullied.
